Shootin' fo days

Calling all aspiring models – if think you’ve got what it takes, prove it and book a Test Shoot with TeeJay Photography. You may even become a muse for future shoots, and that only means more experience and coverage.

Win-win? I think yes.

These Test Shoots are quite basic – no make-up, no jewelry and a colour scheme of neutral, solid colours as far as wardrobe goes. Drop an email at photographyteejay@gmail.com and start shooting. You could be the next Candice.

Below are a few examples of what you could expect.

Four Seas and a Rolling Grassland

These are kids that’ll stay up till the sun wakens. These are the kids who break the rules and set the trends. These are the kids that live on the block.

These are the kids your mother warned you about.

Flat caps, combat boots, sneakers and bathing suits – call it an underground fantasy of grungy fashion. Last Sunday, I collaborated with five stunning models and a talented soon-to-be-professional photographer, to create a series of in your face fashion. Much inspired by Terry Richardson’s famous yet controversial shoots, we managed through the morning’s heat wave and created a series that may shock a mother or two.

Flat caps can be seen as a trend. It’s a fun accessory to round off your outfit with. It gives a playful feeling and it goes deliciously with street style. Oh and one can use it to protect oneself from the sun of course – it’s a win-win situation!

Sneakers are always comfortable and quite easy to slip into. Its cool aura makes it a definite do for any outfit. Sneakers are super tender on feet, and there are so many styles to choose from. All you need to do is tuck your feet it, lace it up, and you’re ready to explore the surface of the Earth. We frequently used All-Stars in this series. They kind of pair with the use of flat caps – both are playful and fearless in a way, when used in an outfit.

To complete a in your face style, choose chains – the ones that seem to suffocate you around the neck. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora can each be called an ambassador for this statement. They have rocked this trend thoroughly, and the rest of the world copies.

Comfort stays key #3

Shirt - Cotton On / Shorts - Cotton On / Ankle Boots - own

I am particularly happy about this easy and breezily read-to-wear street outfit. It's fit for anything, except a formal ball of course. A colour palette of whites and blues is a new 'thing' I'm trying. it shapes a relaxed and calm atmosphere, as if one's heads drifts among the clouds.

Comfort stays key

The heat seems to rise on a daily basis. It influences our levels of maximum patience, of perspiration, and the ability to focus. Luckily, clothing does not have to be one of the attributing factors. Before Gabrielle Chanel, clothing was designed to be highly uncomfortable – think layers and textures and layers – again – of heavy fabric. Not to mention too-tight corsets on the verge of exploding. Gigantic gowns, perfected with frivolous lace. Breathing would've been our main goal for the day. Not fainting, for once, would be an aspiration for each day.

Fashion evolves. So did the comfort-ability of fashion choices. The very first of outfit, of a following series, is an easy and laid-back outfit to begin with. The simple blend of a top and short creates the fact that it’s adoringly laid-back. A loose-fitted top, a short on the verge of ratchet, and pair of cool and comfortable ankle boots – this is ideal for almost anything fun and summery.
